More than 100 people took part in the question and answer session at the previous meeting in March.

Parents and members of the community will have an opportunity next week to learn more about the new joint-use school planned for the city’s south side.

An information night will be held at Riverview Collegiate on Monday, June 24 beginning at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will provide an update on the project, as well as a discussion on potential locations.

“It is important to gather all of the information we can in the early stages of the project so that different voices are heard,” said Tony Baldwin, director of education for Prairie South School Division, in a news release. “In the coming months, we will be selecting a site for the new school, and we want to hear from people in the South Hill neighbourhood about pros and cons of different options.”

Sean Chase, director of education at Holy Trinity Catholic School Division, added, “There is no such thing as too much communication when we are working on a project of this scope.

“Consulting now will ensure that we are considering as many viewpoints as possible when making decisions that will impact children and families for many years.”

The new school will consolidate Empire and Westmount from Prairie South and Sacred Heart and St. Mary from Holy Trinity. The announcement of the new school came as part of the provincial budget.

A similar meeting was held back in March shortly after the project’s announcement.
