UPDATE: Four in custody: police seize assault-style weapons and drugs

Four people are in police custody following a firearm and drug-related incident Wednesday night.

Update: As a result of last night's investigation, four people have been charged by Moose Jaw Police. 

A 48 year old male has been charged with possession of proceeds of crime, possession of a prohibited weapon, breaching weapons prohibition orders, and breaching conditions of a prior release. The male was released by police with conditions and will appear in court at a later date.

A 24 year old female was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of ammunition. She was released and will appear in court at a later date.

Scott Bobbett – 31 years – was charged with 13 weapons related offences, four counts of possession of property obtained by crime and two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Cassidy Atkinson – 20 years – of Moose Jaw was charged with 16 weapons related offences, four counts of possession of property obtained by crime and two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Bobbett and Atkinson were both held for court on Friday, June 30, 2023.

Four people are in police custody this morning, following an incident Wednesday night, June 29, that was possibly drug related. The incident resulted in police seizing assault-style firearms, drugs, stolen property, and cash.

Four taken into custody

At approximately 7:00 p.m. on June 28, police responded to an incident possibly involving drugs and weapons on the 1100 block of 4th. Ave. N.E. and asked members of the public to avoid the area while the investigation took place.

As a result of the incident, four people are now in police custody.

Location secured and searched

A search warrant was obtained by police permitting them to search the residence.  

At approximately 9:00 p.m., members of the Tactical Response Team secured the location and a thorough search was conducted by the Criminal Investigation Division.

During the search, police seized drugs, an undisclosed amount of cash, and two assault-style firearms.

Stolen property was also found at the residence and has been seized by police.

Moose Jaw Police have now secured the area and it is safe for members of the public to return. 

Police continue their investigation and will provide an update as the ongoing situation unfolds.
