Enrolment continues to rise at the U of R

University sees largest enrolment increase in 37 years

A total of 933 more students are registered for classes this fall at the University of Regina.

That represents the largest year-over-year increase in students since 1982. It is also the second-largest increase since the U of R was established.

It is the 11th consecutive year of enrolment growth.

In total, there are 16,501 students registered for classes this semester. That represents a six per cent increase from the 15,568 students registered in 2018 and a 41 per cent increase from the 11,664 students registered in the fall of 2008.

There are now even more students attending the U of R who self-identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit, with an increased of 5.7 per cent; this group accounts for 13.2 per cent of the student population.

International students have increased by 27.2 per cent from last year. These students now account for 19.1 per cent of the overall student body.

Finally, there are 127 more graduate students enrolled this year, which is an increase of 6.7 per cent. According to the U of R, 35.4 per cent of graduate students hail from countries other than Canada.
