Christmas will be here before you know it, and that means there will be lots of fun, seasonal events and activities to take in. One of the most popular Christmas-themed events, the CP Holiday Train, will make its annual stop in The Friendly City on Dec. 17.

This will be the Holiday Train’s 21st season. In addition to spreading holiday cheer, the train also generates donations for food banks in communities across the CP network. Since 1999, the program has raised $15.8 million and has collected 4.5 million pounds of food.

Last year, the Moose Jaw & District Food Bank received more than 8,000 pounds of food and over $1,000 in cash donations. CP also presented the food bank with a cheque for $10,000.

There will be two trains — one that travels across Canada and another that travels to communities within the United States. The journey will begin on Nov. 25 and 26 in Montreal. It will actually be the American train that will visit Moose Jaw, along with neighbouring communities in Weyburn, Estevan, and Swift Current.

As always, the train features live music from top entertainers. Performers at the Moose Jaw stop this year will include Meghan Patrick, Tanika Charles, and Kelly Prescott.

The holiday train is scheduled to arrive in Moose Jaw at 7:45 p.m. on Dec. 17. The event itself will commence at 8 p.m.

The American train will wrap up its journey on Dec. 18 in Alberta, while the Canadain train will end its route on Dec. 17 in the Vancouver area.
