The construction scene in Moose Jaw has improved from last year at this point.

Building permits in the first two months of $2.43 million are up 69 per cent from last year.

In February alone city hall issued permits worth $1.57 million, about 10 times last February’s amount.

Major permits last  month were $80,000 for alterations to the Rexall Drug outlet on Main street and $784,000 for two dwellings, one in the northwest and one in a trailer court.

No new dwelling permits were issued in January or February last year.

One demolition permit was issued in February.
