Comfortable wins order of the day in high school volleyball league

Assiniboia and Central take three-game wins in boys play, Briercrest follows suit in girls action

It was a relatively easy night for all three winners in Moose Jaw High School Athletic Association boys and girls volleyball league action on Thursday night,

The Briercrest Christian Academy Cougars moved into sole possession of second place in the girls standings with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-17) victory over the Vanier Spirits, improving to 3-2 while Vanier fell to 2-3.

Over on the boys’ side of things, the Assiniboia Rockets improved to 5-1 and moved into a tie for first place with idle Vanier with a 3-0 (25-8, 25-10, 25-11) win over the Avonlea Eagles, while the Central Cyclones took over third place with a 3-0 (25-14, 26-24, 25-22) victory over the Peacock Toilers. Peacock fell to 2-4, Avonlea remains winless at 0-6.

The boys game between Vanier and Cornerstone Christian School was postponed to Tuesday, Oct, 11, while no score was reported from the girls game between Central and Peacock.

League action continues on Wednesday, with girls games featuring Central at Vanier at 6:20 p.m. and Notre Dame at Peacock at 7 p.m., while boys play will see Cornerstone at Assiniboia at 7 p.m., followed by Central at Vanier and Avonlea at Peacock at 8 p.m.
