Best of the West Cheer and Dance competition takes over Moose Jaw Events Centre

Close to 1,500 competitors from all over western Canada in action at major event

One of the largest cheer and dance competitions in the province is currently underway at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.

Close to 1,500 athletes of all ages are taking part in the Best of the West Cheer and Dance Championships, with competitors in some of the older divisions battling for a spot at the World Championships in Florida.

The event had so much interest this year that it was expanded to two days, with a slate of performances on Friday night augmenting the full day of action Saturday.

The competition runs until 8 p.m., with awards being presented immediately after.

Here’s a sampling of some of the action on Saturday afternoon, and be sure to check back for more on Sunday.
