A bail hearing has been scheduled for resident Brennan Thomas Roney, who is accused of an alleged domestic dispute to which police responded recently.
Roney, 22, appeared in person at Moose Jaw provincial court on April 13, where his charges were adjourned to Thursday, April 16. This would allow for a bail verification report to be produced and for a bail hearing to be run that day.
Roney has been remanded to the Regina Correctional Centre since the Crown is opposed to his release. He will appear at his bail hearing by video link.
Defence lawyer Julian Nahachewsky asked Judge Daryl Rayner if the bail verification report could also look at putting Roney on an electronic monitoring system. However, Rayner explained the program is not being operated during the pandemic. What could happen, though, is Roney could be given mandatory curfews and restrictions if he is given probation.
Moose Jaw police responded to a domestic dispute on April 11 on the 900 block of Athabasca Street West, where they arrested Roney for an alleged assault with a firearm, based on a previous news release.
According to the information read out in court, Roney is allegedly being accused of 10 charges, including:

- uttering threats to cause death to his spouse’s father, mother, and horses;
- choking his spouse with his hands;
