Moose Jaw’s Ben Wourms-Rowe and the AAA Warriors will be renewing acquaintances with the Saskatoon Contacts.

The second round of the playoffs are set for the Moose Jaw AAA Warriors, and as expected, things aren’t about to get any easier as things move on.

The fourth-place Warriors will face the third-place Saskatoon Contacts in their best-of-five second-round showdown, with Game 2 set for Monday at 7 p.m. at Mosaic Place.

Game 1 is set for Sunday at 2 p.m. in Saskatoon and Game 3 will take place on Thursday, Mar. 12 in Saskatoon, with the rest of the schedule to be completed by Mar. 17.

Interestingly enough, the Saskatchewan Hockey Association sanctions ended up having a negative effect on the Warriors after all – had the four points not been taken from the team, they’d have finished third, three points up on the Contacts, and as a result would have had home ice advantage.

It’s also one of the few playoff match-ups where the Warriors are underdogs, having won only once against Saskatoon this season, that back on Nov. 24 when they picked up a 2-1 win at Mosaic Place.

Other than that, the Contacts won 1-0 on Nov. 17, snapped a seven-game Warriors winning streak with a 4-2 win on Dec. 14 at Mosaic Place and followed with a 5-3 win in Saskatoon five days later to take the season series three-games-to-one.

Moose Jaw swept the Notre Dame Hounds in their first-round series, while the Contacts also won their series in three games over the Prince Albert Mintos.

Tickets are $8 and are available at the gate on gameday.
