24 new COVID-19 cases, 49 recoveries

According to the provincial government's new weekly COVID-19 release, vaccines are working.

Comparing indicators between June 1-25 and July 1-25, new cases fell from 1,848 to 894. Meanwhile, hospitalizations due to COVID-19 decreased from 105 to 55, while ICU admissions dropped from 21 to 13.

For this same reporting period, deaths due to COVID-19 declined from 25 to eight.  

Later this week the Ministry of Health will provide an update on the COVID-19 vaccination and breakthrough information for the month of July.  


There are 24 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on August 3, 2021. 

The new cases are located in the following zones: North Central (7), Saskatoon (4), Far North East (4), South West (3), Far North West (2), South East (2), and North West (1). 

One case is pending residence information.  

There are now 50,120 reported cases, including 449 active cases.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 48 (4.0 new cases per 100,000). 

There are no additional deaths to report today. The provincial total remains at 578.

A total of 12,362 Variants of Concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the following zones: Regina (4,831), Saskatoon (2,150), South East (1,156), South Central (892), North West (872), Central East (654), North Central (643), South West (416), Far North West (337), Central West (150), Far North East (88), North East (86), and Far North Central (4). There are 83 screened VOCs with residence pending.

An additional 775 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 1,417,902.

There are 58 people in hospital. Forty-eight people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Saskatoon (19), Regina (13), North Central (10), North West (3), Far North West (1), South Central (1), and South East (1). Ten people are in intensive care in the following zones: Saskatoon (5), Regina (4), and North Central (1).

Forty-nine more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 49,093 recoveries.

There were 1,060 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan. To date, 965,423 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
