208 new COVID-19 cases, 10 deaths reported, 405 recoveries

Ten Saskatchewan residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died.

This includes one death in the 20 to 29 age group and one in the 60 to 69 age group, both in Saskatoon. There were two deaths in the North Central, including one in 60 to 69 age group and one in 80-plus age group. One death in the 70 to 79 age group was reported in the Regina zone, along with two in the 80-plus age group. Three new deaths in the 80-plus age group were reported in the Far North West, North West, and Central East zones. That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 151.

There are 208 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan, as of Dec. 29, 2020. On Dec. 28, there were 94 new cases. On Dec. 29, there were 114 new cases.

The new cases are located in the Saskatoon (39), Regina (39), Far North East (36), North Central (33), South East (15), North West (13), North East (8), Central East (7), Far North West (4), Central West (4), and South West (1) zones.  

Nine new cases have pending residence information.

Thirty-one previously reported cases have been assigned to the North Central (29), North West (1), and Central East (1) zones.

There are now 15,022 cases, including 3,191 cases active cases.  

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 154 (12.7 new cases per 100,000 population).

As of December 28, 2,371 doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine have been provided to health care workers in Regina as part of the initial pilot and in Saskatoon as part of Phase 1.

One hundred and seventy-five people are in hospital. Four hundred and five more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 11,680 recoveries  

Of the 15,022 cases in the province:

  • 620 cases are travelers;
  • 7,251 are community contacts (including mass gatherings);
  • 3,458 have no known exposures; and
  • 3,693 are under investigation by local public health. 

On a regional level:

  • 4,251 cases are from the Saskatoon area;
  • 3,621 cases are from the north area (1,378 north west, 1,744 north central, 499 north east);
  • 2,923 cases are from the Regina area;
  • 1,654 cases are from the far north (896 far north west, 106 far north central, 652 far north east);
  • 1,548 cases are from the south (557 south west, 532 south central, 459 south east);
  • 920 cases are from the central area (339 central west, 581 central east); and
  • 105 cases have pending residence information.

A total of 423,058 COVID-19 tests have been processed in Saskatchewan. For Dec. 28 and 29, 2,438 COVID-19 tests were processed in Saskatchewan (including 1,239 on Dec. 28 and 1,199 on Dec. 29).
