MOOSE JAW — The City of Moose Jaw is providing reminders ahead of the new school year in September.

During the summer break, updates were made to parking signage around city schools. The new signs are consistent with the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Canada (MUTCDC) to ensure consistent communication of parking expectations for residents and visitors to the schools.

Please note that enforcement times are displayed in 24-hour (military) time, from 08:00 to 18:00 (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.), Monday through Friday.

New signage has been installed near pedestrian crosswalks and intersections to improve sight lines and reinforce parking restrictions outlined in the city’s Traffic Bylaw No. 5556. Specifically, the Bylaw states:

23(1) No person shall park a vehicle on any highway:

  1. within two metres of any curb crossing or driveway;
  2. within five metres of a fire hydrant, measured parallel to the curb;
  1. within 10 metres of a street intersection, unless parking is permitted by an authorized sign;
  2. within 10 metres of a marked pedestrian crosswalk.

Parents and guardians of the new joint-use school on South Hill, Coteau Hills Elementary/Our Lady of Hope, are advised that the school bus pick-up/drop-off area for both divisions is on the west side of the school on Fairmont Road.

City Transit stops servicing the new school along Route 4 – Westmount will be at Wellington Drive & Triton Street, and Wellington Drive and Fullerton Street. A reminder that with the HotSpot app, residents can purchase single bus tickets, 10 bus tickets, or monthly bus passes.
