206 new COVID-19 cases, 4 deaths

Four residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. All four deaths were reported in the Regina zone. One person was in the 50 to 59 age group, one in the 60 to 69 age group, one in the 70 to 79 age group, and one in the 80-plus age group. That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 122. 

There are 206 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan, as of Dec. 21, 2020.

The new cases are located in the Saskatoon (46), North Central (38), North West (37), Regina (26), Far North East (13), North East (12), Far North West (10), Central East (10), South Central (6), South East (4), and South West (1) zones.

Three of the new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Three new cases have pending residence information.

There are now 13,761 reported cases, including 3,990 active cases.  

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 219 (18 new cases per 100,000 population).

One hundred and thirty-one people are in hospital. One hundred and eleven people are receiving inpatient care — 43 in Saskatoon, 25 in Regina, 18 in the North Central, seven in the North West, seven in the South East, five in the Central East, two in the Far North West, two in the North East, one in the Far North Central, and one in the Central West. Twenty people are in intensive care — eight in Saskatoon, seven in the North Central, two in Regina, two in the South West, and one in the North West.

Ninety-two more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 9,649 recoveries.

The total of vaccinations completed to December 20 is 1,285. These are part of the Regina pilot vaccination phase.

Of the 13,761 cases in the province:

  • 587 cases are travelers;
  • 6,572 are community contacts (including mass gatherings);
  • 3,089 have no known exposures; and
  • 3,513 are under investigation by local public health. 

On a regional level:

  • 3,997 cases are from the Saskatoon area;
  • 3,186 cases are from the north area (1,247 north west, 1,484 north central, 455 north east);
  • 2,694 cases are from the Regina area;
  • 1,503 cases are from the south area (550 south west, 525 south central, 428 south east);
  • 1,470 cases are from the far north area (835 far north west, 103 far north central, 532 far north east);
  • 866 cases are from the central area (330 central west, 536 central east); and
  • 45 cases have pending residence information.

A total of 408,444 COVID-19 tests have been processed in Saskatchewan. Yesterday, 2,361 COVID-19 tests were processed.
