Saskatchewan's farmers were able to get out into the fields last week and made real progress on spring seeding.

According to the latest crop report, 18 per cent of this year's crop is now in the ground. That is up from seven per cent last week.

That is below the five-year average (2015-2019) of 25 per cent.

The southwest region has made the most progress, with 39 per cent of the crop seeded. That is followed by 23 per cent in the southeast, 14 per cent in the west-central, eight per cent in the northwest, seven per cent in the east-central, and three per cent in the northeast.

Moisture conditions remain virtually unchanged. Cropland topsoil moisture is rated as five per cent surplus, 84 per cent adequate, and 11 per cent short. Hay and pasture land topsoil moisture is rated as three per cent surplus, 75 per cent adequate, 20 per cent short, and two per cent very short.
