Harvest operations got a big boost from warm, dry weather over the last week.

According to the weekly crop report, 39 per cent of the crop is now in the bin. That is a big jump for 23 per cent last week, but still well behind the five-year average (2014-18) of 62 per cent for this time of year.

The southwest region has enjoyed the most progress with 58 per cent of the crop combined. That is followed by the west-central region at 46 per cent, the southeast region at 40 per cent, the northeast region at 31 per cent, the northwest region at 23 per cent, and the east-central region at just 22 per cent.

Ninety-four per cent of fall rye, 93 per cent of winter wheat, 89 per cent of field peas, 88 per cent of lentils, 59 per cent of barley, 48 per cent of durum, 36 per cent of mustard, 31 per cent of spring wheat, and 17 per cent of canola is now in the bin.

An additional 61 per cent of canola and 19 per cent of mustard is swathed or ready to straight-cut.
