Some crops were damaged by severe weather this week.

Sixty-three per cent of the fall and spring cereals, 53 per cent of the oilseeds, and 73 per cent of the pulse crops are at their normal stages of development for this time of year.

Rainfall ranged from trace amounts to 90 mm in the Frobisher area.

Topsoil moisture on cropland is rated as two per cent surplus, 84 per cent adequate, 13 per cent short, and one per cent very short.

Topsoil moisture on hay land and pasture is rated as one per cent surplus, 79 per cent adequate, 19 per cent short, and one per cent very short.

Livestock producers now have 13 per cent of the crop cut and eight per cent baled or put into silage. Hay quality is rated as three per cent excellent, 42 per cent good, 42 per cent fair, and 13 per cent poor.  Hay yields are below average.
