It's a big weekend for 4-H members from across the province, as they converge on Yorkton for the Provincial 4-H Beef Show, running Aug. 8-10, at the Yorkton Exhibition Grounds.
Ashley L'Henaff, the North Regional Specialist with 4-H Saskatchewan, says about 150 4-H members from across the province are expected to participate in the two events.
The show gets going Friday with the judging competition, with those taking part having qualified from their regional competitions. to advance to Yorkton.
There are six classes for judging, including two beef classes, and others that will be a surprise for participants, and the overall winner will be invited to take part in judging for the supreme championship on Sunday.
In terms of the beef show, L'Heraff says Saturday will focus on grooming and showmanship, while Sunday, the judges will take a closer look at the animals themselves.
She also expressed appreciation for the sponsors that make the event happen, including UFA and the Saskatchewan Cattle Association.
