Wilma Wheeler (nee) Cleave passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021, in Central Butte, Sk. At the age of 99. Wilma was born Nov 5th, 1922, at a family farm west of Eyebrow. She was predeceased by her husband Elwood Wheeler, son Arnie, daughter Fay and grandsons Daniel Wheeler and Devan Wheeler, two sisters, Gladys Bathgate, and Nora Buckley, three brothers, Russ Cleave, Bob Cleave and Claire Cleave.

Wilma is survived by her six children, five sons, Larry (Seval), Bill (Debbie), Naron (Joanne), Neville (Donna), Mark (Pam) and one daughter Landis Munroe (Vince). Special person to our family, Myrna Biegler (Bruce). Sixteen Grandchildren, James, Joe, Diana, Aaron, Michelle, Tanya, Trent, Crystal, Lacey, Amy, Riley, Amber, Lori, Sheena, Tanner and Jessi. Thirty Great Grand children and numerous nieces and nephews.  Two sisters-in-law, Mona Wheeler and Helen Cleave and special friend Ken Gallaway. 

Wilma went to a country school called Winfield to grade six then her family moved to Eyebrow where she finished high school. She worked at Eyebrow post office, phone office and waitressed at the Raymond hotel in the dining room.

Wilma married Elwood Wheeler in 1943 at age 21. Farmed near Eyebrow then moved to Flin Flon, Manitoba for 3 years where Elwood worked at the mine. Moved back to the farm and then to Esbank where Elwood was an elevator agent for McCabes for 16 years. They moved to the farm near Eyebrow where they built their new house and raised their children. She was a member of the Town and Country club, hospital auxiliary and United Church. She worked endlessly raising a big family along with some nieces and nephews that she had stay for a school year to help them out. After Elwood passed away mom had a new house in Eyebrow and continued going to church, involved with the Senior center, and still gardening. Moved to Iver Main Place in Central Butte at age 92 where she was very happy, she made many friends and was looked after very well. Special thanks to the wonderful caring staff at Iver Main Place and to the residents there whom mom called Family.

A Celebration of Wilma’s life will take place in the spring at Eyebrow. Details will be announced in the spring.
