MINNIE HENRIETTA WEBB (née: DOCKEN)
March 7th, 1924 – October 25th, 2021
There comes a time in every man’s life when he is chosen to leave the earth. For some, no notice is given and there is no time to say good-bye. For some of us, notice is given that our steps on the road will soon end. For our father, the sun set quickly. For our beloved mother, Minnie Webb, formerly of Regina, SK there was time for her loved ones to say good-byes and for her to know she was greatly loved. In her 97th year, in the arms of her children, she slipped away to join her husband, Bob (Robert).
Born in 1924 to Minnie and Halvor Docken, who homesteaded at Dubuc, Saskatchewan, Minnie experienced a full and adventurous life in 51 years of marriage to Bob Webb, first as an army wife during World War II, then as a young mother living in a tiny trailer while her husband studied agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan, and later as a farming partner with Bob in Manitoba and Saskatchewan before settling in Regina where she maintained the home office of Bob’s steel construction business.
After Bob’s retirement, Minnie planted and harvested massive gardens and raspberries. While Minnie and Bob enjoyed many travels and winter holidays, their summers at the Diefenbaker Lake cottage held cherished memories filled with the laughter and fun of grandchildren’s visits. The morning air was frequently infused with the smell of Minnie’s baking, specifically her cinnamon buns. In her years after Bob’s passing in 1995, Minnie devoted herself to her garden and her 102 flower pots, and enjoyed frequent shopping trips with her daughters. Summers were a time of discovering the beauty and wonders of Saskatchewan as she and her daughter visited almost every destination in the Karpan’s book, Saskatchewan Scenic Drives.
Always willing to lend a hand to others and always there with love, encouragement, and support, and a strong belief in family, Minnie will be greatly missed. Some of her last words were “You take care of the children”. And we will. We will maintain the work ethic ideals our mother instilled within us and when tough decisions face us, we will ask ourselves “What would Mother suggest we do?” And we will remember her, with never ending love.
Left to mourn but also to celebrate a long and healthy life, are her 4 children and 9 grandchildren: Sonja Susut of Moose Jaw (Aron and May, Hilah), Pat Neuman and Harold Weir of Calgary (Corey and Angela, Karen and Mark), Laura Telford of Edmonton (Scott and Adrienne, Doug), and Doug and Mary Webb of Melfort (Jenny and Ryan, Jesse and Lindsay, Becky). Also missing their grandma are 14 great-grandchlldren: Kiera Susut, Michaela, Annika, and Sofia Neuman, Ryan and Matthew Fraser, Justin Charest, Greysen and Alex Seibel, Carmen Nesbet, and Charlie and Bree Neilsen. And, saying goodbye to “grandma” is her beloved little dog, Owen.
Our grateful thanks to the wonderful staff at Mulberry Estates in Moose Jaw and, for the past few months, the gentle and loving staff at Chez Nous who have been so kind to our mother.
