JOSEPH VEEDER

The family of Joseph Allen Veeder is saddened to announce his passing on January 12, 2021 at the age of 93. Joe was born February 20, 1927 in Battle Bend, Alberta to Julian and Nora Kathleen Veeder (Gaffney). He is predeceased by his parents and his 3 brothers, Robert, Ray and Ralph. He was also predeceased by numerous friends and work colleagues. Just to name a few: Les Timar; Fred Ironside; John Skoberg, Fred Timoruski Calvin Cyberg; Herman Segall and Len McCarthy. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marian Helen Veeder (Boire); 3 children from his first marriage: Allen, Calvin and Debra (Bell); grandchildren, Terry, Tanya, Richard, Lindsay, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Jessie and Sarah; his great grandchildren, Isabella, Tenley, Caitlin, Landen, Emma and Sophie. Joe will also be remembered by his many nieces and nephews. He was a member of the #3 Lodge Masons; Valley of Moose Jaw Lodge of Perfection and Alexander Shepphard Chapter Rose Croix. Joe started working at the age of 13 as a farm hand and the caretaker of his school at Dry Crossing where he attended, finally working for the CPR in 1944 as a Wiper, working his way up to Fireman and then later to Locomotive Engineer. He retired in 1990 after 47 years. The family would like to also thank his many caregivers for their friendship and care: along with friends Pauline and Brian Yamniuk, Mabel Timar, Joanne Timoruski and Gerri Segall; just to name a few. Along with cousins Donald Feldman (Carolyn) and Jeanette Beyl nee Feldman (Leroy). Joe may be gone, but he will not be forgotten. A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at a later date depending upon COVID restrictions. In living memory of Joe, a memorial planting will be made by Jones - Parkview Funeral Services.
