Our amazing mother Eileen Bernice Stirton passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at the incredible age of 100.
Bernice loved life, especially her family of “four girls” and “Dad”. She loved gathering with family and friends and being together for a meal, which she could whip up in a flash as she was an excellent cook. Her proud sense of community could be seen in her 60 year involvement in the Petrolia Tea Timers, the love she had for the Snowbirds and her dedication to her family farm, making sure the building always had a fresh coat of paint and tending to her “tunaround” flowers.
Mom loved to travel and see the world, flying trips with friends to the Canadian north, trips to watch curling events all over Europe and driving across Canada to see our great country. She marvelled at every prairie sunset, the Rockies, and the ocean, always telling us to look at and enjoy all the beauty surrounding us.
Bernice was pre-deceased by her husband Alan in 2009, daughter Cheryl in 2020 and granddaughter Susan in 2021, leaving behind daughters Dianne (Richard), Alison, Cameron; Dorenda, Ryan, Karyn; Cheryl (Peter) Dominique, Sterling; Charlene (Dominic) Erin, Adam, along with 17 great grandchildren.
Mom was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and shared her optimistic, positive, kind, and generous personality with all those around her. She was much loved by anyone who knew her and will hold a special place in the hearts of many.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday June 6, 2022 at 1:30pm at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel, 474 Hochelaga St W., Moose Jaw. Dave Moore will officiate. Bernice will be laid to rest beside her husband at Rosedale Cemetery.
