Mr. Brian W. Staffen, aged 81 years of Moose Jaw, SK passed away at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital on Friday, February 11th, 2022. Brian was born in Moose Jaw on June 18th, 1940. He attended A.E. Peacock High School and worked in various auto parts jobs over the years, including at the Department of Highways, Patterson Motors, and Great West Auto. Brian married Gloria Cristo in 1969 and though they later divorced, they remained friends until the time of his passing. He never remarried. Brian enjoyed camping, fishing, and playing and watching sports of all types. An avid bowler for more than two decades, he competed in three leagues and has a shelf of trophies attesting to his skill. Brian played slo-pitch and golfed in the summers, travelling with his friend Rod to every golf course from one end of the province to the other. When he wasn't watching sports on TV and cheering on the Chicago Blackhawks, he would be watching Jeopardy! and would routinely answer questions that stumped the contestants. He had a great sense of humour, enjoyed the occasional beer or whiskey, and was always the life of the party. It's hard to condense such a big personality into such a small space - if you knew him, you know.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Barbara, and his Brother-In-Law, Allan (Coral) Nations. Brian is survived by his son, Deron Staffen (Tamara Harder); brother, Gary Staffen; sister, Coral Nations; nephew, Steven (Mary) Nations and niece, Kathleen (Jeff) Fulton. The family would like to extend special thanks to Brian's close friends Rod Mathieson, Lori Johnson, and Ed and Cheryl Brooker for their care and companionship.
A Private Family Service will be held. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Brian’s name may be made to SCRAPS, PO Box 1653, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Todd Sjoberg, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
