On Tuesday, June 7, 2022, Emelia Barbara Sperling passed away at the Craik Health Centre at Craik, Saskatchewan at the age of 95. She was born March 5, 1927, on the family homestead near Aylesbury, SK. Emilia is predeceased by her parents Peter and Julia Miller; infant daughter Wanda; brothers John Miller, Tom Miller and Chris Miller; sisters Anne Selinger and Barb Reich. Left to remember her are her children: Donna (Terry)Leibel of Big River, SK, Norman (Lucille) Sperling of Rich Valley, AB, John (Cathy) Sperling of Craik, SK, Michael Sperling of Craik, SK, Richard (Wendy) Sperling of Roblin, MB, Julie (William) Repski of Imperial, SK, Bernie (Cheryl) Sperling of Craik, SK, Nadine (Kerry) Hearn of Regina, SK, and Arlene Selinger of Regina, SK; 19 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; sister Sadie Lipp of Regina, SK; sisters in laws Connie Miller of Davidson and Sharon Miller of Calgary as well as numerous nephews, nieces and friends. Emelia married George Sperling in 1948 and together they farmed in the Aylesbury District for 37 years. George and Emelia moved to Moose Jaw after their retirement. In 2001, George and Emelia moved back to Craik to be close to family. Emelia was devoted to attending Sunday Mass when she was able. Emelia enjoyed her vegetable garden, especially growing roses, and other flowers. She also spent many hours doing word puzzles, reading and loved playing cards. Emelia was a very competent bridge player. She also looked forward to visits with family. She will be forever missed by her family for her homestyle cooking, especially her homemade bread. Emelia was the best host you could ever ask for and her door was always open for a variety of gatherings for family and friends alike. The Celebration of her life will be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church on Monday, June 13, 2022 at 10:30AM. There will be viewing for family and friends from 9:30 to 10:30 on Monday, June 13, 2022 at the Church. Interment will follow at Craik Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contribution may be forwarded to the Craik and District Health Centre.  In living memory of Emelia, a memorial planting will be made by W.J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
