It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Larry on September 25, 2021, at the age of 93. Larry was born on April 7, 1928, on the family farm in the Aylesbury district to Sarah and Joseph Smith. After schooling in the district, Larry went off to normal school to become a teacher.  After Larry had become a teacher, he found he was worse than the students for looking out the window. It was then he decided to come home to Aylesbury and take up farming. During his first few years of farming, Larry picked up extra work running a CAT for the RM and spent a winter in Toronto at a factory. Larry attended a year of Agriculture at the U of S. While at university Larry became reacquainted with Mabel Wright, a long-time school friend. Larry and Mabel married on April 4, 1953, at the United Church in Aylesbury. They settled on the family farm and shortly after started their family. They grain farmed and had a nice herd of cattle for 42 years until their retirement in 1991. Larry and Mabel had decided to move to Moose Jaw. Over the years, they enjoyed many trips, including Alaska and Hawaii, but preferred their many winters in Mesa, Arizona where they had a park model. Larry enjoyed his floor shuffle, hiking, and wood working. Larry loved his senior years at Points West (Caleb). Predeceased by Mabel Smith in 2016 his beloved wife of 63 years. Larry was a loving proud father leaving behind Pat Smith (Robert Garand); Jim (Terry); Doug (Pat); Cliff (Deb); Colleen Morin (Rick); Dianne Dube (Rod); Larry was a cherished grandfather to Jamie (JD); Trevor (Jessica); Shawn (Renee); Jessica (Dan); Chris; Jackie (Paul); Scott; Sarah (Mackenzie); Kacie (Jordan); Vanessa and Jared.
