IONE EDITH SCHWABE
JULY 25, 1930 – MARCH 20, 2021
Ione passed peacefully on March 20, 2021. She was born in Moose Jaw, on July 25, 1930 to Mark and Agnes Buckmaster. Ione was the youngest of four children. She graduated from Brownlee High School in 1948. In 1950 she married Don Schwabe, a young farmer in the district, and one year later had their first child, a son they called Rick. Two more sons followed, and a young family was well on their way. Ione loved the life on the farm. She raised chickens and turkeys, but her real passion was her garden. She worked endlessly on her garden and continued well into her eighties. In 1967, the Schwabe family moved to a farm northeast of Brownlee where they stayed happily until they retired. Ione was very active in the Brownlee social life. She also enjoyed watching her sons and later her grandchildren play various sports. Ione is predeceased by her husband Don; brothers Robert and Lyle Buckmaster and sister Leone Selk. She is survived by her sons, Rick, Randy (Heather) and Clair (Char); five grandchildren Evan (Jill), Eric (Haley), Marissa Porter (Derek), Stacia Schoffer and Taylor Schoffer; six great grandchildren Cruise, Kane, Cal, Kate, Porter and Blakely. A private family service will be held at a later date. Farm wives seldom rest, but now Mom you have earned one. I bet you have the biggest garden in Heaven.
