SCHROEDER

It is with great sadness, tinged with joy, we announce that Celia Mae Schroeder, aged 89 years of West Park Crossing in Moose Jaw, SK passed away peacefully on Monday, November 29th, 2021. She was predeceased by her parents and three sisters: Laura (Tom) Wellwood, Aileen Vivian, and Kathleen Joiner. Celia is survived by her husband Werner, who was her devoted companion for over 60 years. She is also survived by her brother, Ken (Sharon) McAndrew of Abbotsford, BC; special niece, Jeannie (Gordon) Hamilton of Pickering, ON; several nephews, as well as great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Celia was born in the Birch Hills district of Saskatchewan in the summer of 1932. She came to Caronport to attend the Bible Institute where she also met Werner. After graduation and marriage, they returned to the Bible Institute to work in various capacities. Together they served in the administration offices at the Briercrest College and Seminary at Caronport, SK for several decades. Werner is remembered for his meticulous bookkeeping and sound engineering; Celia is remembered for a wide, gracious, and welcoming smile, usually accented with a touch of kindness as she served customers and visitors. Over the years Celia established many long-time friendships with both staff and students alike. They continued to live in their Caronport home for many more years after retirement. As age took its toll, they spent two years at Furrows and Faith Care Home in Mossbank, SK and then transitioned to West Park Crossing. In the past several months and as her health deteriorated, God saw Celia getting frail and tired, so He put His arms around her and whispered “Come be with Me”. Her recent frailty has been replaced by everlasting joy as she is welcomed into her eternal home with Jesus whom she loved and served. Celia will be dearly missed, especially by her husband who was her constant friend. Family and friends would like to express heartfelt thanks to the management and staff at West Park Crossing in Moose Jaw for their kind and untiring care for Celia over the past 3 years. A Service to honour Celia’s life will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations in Celia’s name may be made to the Briercrest College and Seminary, 510 College Drive, Caronport, SK S0H 0S0. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
