Denise Michelle (Paice) Santoni July 23, 1969 – August 11, 2023

Denise Santoni passed away peacefully on August 11, 2023 in Moose Jaw, SK. She was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend.

Denise is survived by her husband Michael Santoni; father of her children Darin Paton; mother Maureen Paice; children Taylor Budd (Alex), Kelsey Paton, Ava, Vivviana, and Danilo Santoni; brothers Roddy and Derick, best friend Donna Paul; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She is predeceased by her father Gordon Paice; grandparents Gerald and Martha Johnson, Jack and Bessie Paice; uncle Howie Paice; and father and mother-in-law, Danny and Barb Santoni.

Denise was inspired by the work of the occupational therapists who worked with her brother Derick following a car accident. She chose to pursue a career in Occupational Therapy herself. After receiving a bursary to study Occupational Therapy, she graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1995 and helped design a program for acquired brain injury in Moose Jaw. Denise later accepted a position in High Level, Alberta, the beginning of a long career with Alberta Health Services. She later moved to Lethbridge and became manager of Rehab Medicine for southern Alberta. She helped countless people throughout her career and made many friends along the way.

Denise remained in Lethbridge until recently, when she decided to come back home to Moose Jaw in April 2023, after being diagnosed with MSA (Multiple System Atrophy), in June 2022. She was surrounded by many friends and family here until her final days. Denise bravely made the choice to contact Medical Assistance in Dying and she died peacefully and with dignity. She will be forever remembered in our hearts as the strong, courageous, and especially kind women she was.

Special thanks to Donna Paul for her kind and caring devotion to Denise throughout many years, and especially her support of our family through this difficult time. Also, we would like to thank the amazing staff at Chateau St. Michael, for their kind and compassionate care of Denise over the last few months.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Denise’s name may be made to Parkinson Canada Donate - Parkinson Canada, 4211 Yonge St #316, North York, ON M2P 2A9 or the Alzheimer Society Donate Now! (etapestry.com), 301-2550-12th Avenue Regina, Saskatchewan S4P 3X1.

Denise will always be remembered for her contagious laugh that could fill up a room.

I hope you dance
