IRENE RUDEEN (née: Buck)

1932 - 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Irene Rudeen on Saturday, May 17th, 2025, at the age of 92 years.

Irene was initially raised in Mazenod, SK and then in Lake Valley/Mortlach when the family relocated. In 1954, she married the love of her life, Gene, and they were blessed with 66 years of marriage until Gene’s passing in 2021. After a life of farming north of Parkbeg, SK, Gene and Irene moved to Mortlach in 1974 and later to Moose Jaw in 2003. Following Gene’s passing, Irene moved to Saskatoon, SK to be closer to her family.

Irene loved her crafts and created many beautiful cross stitch tapestries. She also enjoyed creating silk flower arrangements and was happy to take up any new craft that came along. Irene had wonderful memories of their many friends in Mortlach, Moose Jaw, and Arizona, and particularly the many card playing evenings. A strong faith and the Church were important to both Irene and Gene and they attended and supported Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Moose Jaw for many years.

Irene will be greatly missed by her children, Lorraine and Terry (Line); grandchildren: Scott (Amanda), Michael, Nicolas, and Sabrina (Mitch); as well as her great-grandson, Hunter and great granddaughter, Freyja. She will also be missed by her sisters, Bertha and Frieda Reisdorf; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Stewart as well as the caring and compassionate staff at the Sunnyside Adventist Care Centre in Saskatoon for their love and support of Irene over the past years.

The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 6th, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Pastor Jason Schultz will officiate and a private family interment will take place in Mortlach Cemetery. Those not able to attend may view the service virtually by going to www.moosejawfuneralhome.com/webcast/.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Michelle Ellis, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
