Daniel Lewis Ross

Daniel Lewis Ross passed away unexpectedly on May 28th, 2020. Dan was born in  October 14, 1959 in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan before relocating with his family to the town of Brooksby, Saskatchewan where he spent the remainder of his childhood. After graduating from Star City School in 1977, Dan married his high school sweetheart Elaine Roberts on March 25th, 1978.  The marriage produced four children and eleven grandchildren. Dan joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1979 as an aero-engine tech.  This proved to be the start of an amazing career where he served on three air demonstration teams: The Dragonflies, The Snowbirds, and the F-18 Show Team, serving as Crew Chief of The Snowbirds Show Team from 2002 to 2003.  Dan remained a part of 431 squadron in Moose Jaw as an instructor. Following his retirement in 2017 he became an engine tech for Magellan Aerospace, who also do all the engine maintenance for the Snowbirds. An avid fan of NASCAR Racing, country music, and The Saskatchewan Roughriders, Dan loved to tinker around on his dune buggy, and was an excellent guitar player. He is pre-deceased by his father, Bert; his mother and father-in-law, Beryl & Charles Roberts; infant grandson, Matthew. Dan is survived by his wife Elaine (Roberts); his son, Avery (Samantha) and grandchildren, Gracie, Ashton, and Maggie; his son, Perry (Amber) and grandchildren, Ilia & Tyrian; his daughter, Nickie (Ryan Pammer) and grandchild, Eva-Marie; his son, Scott (Melissa) and grandchildren, Emma, Eliana and Calynne;  his mother, Viola; his sister, Vicki; and an amazing group of in-laws, extended family, and friends. In addition to an amazing career, the Snowbirds also gave the wonderful gift of dear friends Dave and Bobbie-Jo Boudreau and our grandchildren Stevie and Eden.  Due to COVID Restrictions there will no formal indoor service.  There will be a graveside service @ Star City Cemetery on Wednesday June 3rd @ 2:00 pm.  Social Distancing guidelines will be observed, and attendants will be required to observe social distancing guidelines.  In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations can be made to North Shuswap Christian Fellowship Church, via e-transfer to nscfchruch@shaw.ca. In living memory of Dan, a memorial planting will be made by Jones - Parkview Funeral Services.
