Robert “Bob” William Reid aged 89 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024. He was predeceased by his father, George in 1960; mother, Irene in 2002; his brother; daughter-in-law, Carolyn; and his wife, Mary. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Patricia McLarty; daughter, Roberta and her children Mick, Courtney, and Jesse; son, Steve (Sandy) and children Meghan (Warren), and grandchildren Braydon and Marrisa; son, Wynne and children, Mackenzie and Ciara; as well as Pat’s family: Colleen McLarty and her children Faith, Brynn, and Abe; and Jill McLarty and her children Paige, Cameron, and Todd.

Bob was born in Regina, SK on May 31st, 1934, to parents, George and Irene Reid. His father was a grain buyer and worked in several locations including Sturgis, Ketchan, Ushervill, Chelan, Walden and Minitonas. In October of 1952 Bob joined the Royal Canadian Navy and was transferred to the UK for submarine training in November 1954. In June of 1955 he married Mary Bowey of Sherness Kent, UK. Following an explosion on a submarine where Bob was injured, they were transferred back to Canada, residing in Esquimalt, BC. He was released from the Navy in 1957 and joined the North Battleford Police Department in Saskatchewan. In May of 1959, Bob returned to the Armed Forces with the Royal Canadian Air Force and after 5 years in Canada, was transferred to 4 Wing Baden, Germany. In 1970, Bob, Mary and their children returned to CFB Moose Jaw where he worked until his retirement from the Forces in 1977. He then began employment at SGI, working there for 20 years. Bob changed careers in 1997, accepting a position with UAB, working there until his 2nd retirement in 2007.  

After Mary’s passing in June of 2002, Bob found love again when he met Patricia McLarty, and they were married in 2007.

The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 30th, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Reverend Doug Shepherd will officiate and interment will take place in Rosedale Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Bob’s name may be made to The Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Station Main, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7.
