CHUEY OY QUAN

Chuey Quan, affectionately known as “Gramma”, of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 12th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Chuey was born in China on June 12th, 1926 and immigrated to Canada in 1954 with her eldest daughter, Joan, and step-grandson, Warren, to join her husband in Shaunavon, SK. There, Chuey had two more daughters, Jean and Eva, before ultimately settling in Moose Jaw, SK. While in Moose Jaw, together with her husband, Yue Dat Quan, they owned a grocery store called Art’s Grocery and Confectionary and completed their family with four more daughters: Mae, Kay, Sandra, and Linda.

Chuey was a very resilient, and strong woman. She will be remembered for her sense of humour, laughter, determination, and generosity. She was an active member in the Chinese Community in Moose Jaw.

Although she had many accomplishments, Chuey’s greatest accomplishment was her family, and she was very proud of all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family, playing mahjong, watching game shows and wrestling, and going to her favourite place, the casino.

She was predeceased by her husband, Yue Dat Quan. Chuey is survived by her children: Joan Narbonne (Georges), Jean Quan, Eva Kot, Kay Lillie (Ron), Mae Quan-Chow, Sandra Woo (Brian), and Linda Vieser (Gary); honorary daughter, Jan Honch (Garry); grandchildren: Michael Quan (Jasmine), Ryan Kot (Kirstin), Joel Kot (Annie), Lindsey Kot, Alexandra Lillie, Nicki Chow (Ian), Alissa Brightman (Cam), Michael Woo, and Deidre Isinghood (Alex); step-granddaughter, Alison Huybrecht-White (Grant) and step-grandson, David Kwan; great-grandchildren: Gianna, Ari, Cillian, Sophia, and Orla; and step-great-grandson, Duncan.

The family would like to give our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Chateau St. Michael’s, and Dr. Brabant and her team at Circle Medical, for their compassion and care.

A Private Family Service will be held to honour Chuey. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Chuey’s memory to Allan Blair Cancer Centre c/o Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Ave, Regina, SK S4T 7T1 or the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 55 Diefenbaker Drive, Moose Jaw, SK S6J 0C2. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
