POMEROY

Dorothy Ilene Pomeroy of Riverhurst, Saskatchewan and of late Central Butte Regency Manor, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at age 97.  Dorothy was the only child of George and Margaret (Thomson) Deener.  While growing up - she enjoyed helping her Dad with the animals on the farm.  She enjoyed her school years at Boldenhurst School, and then moving to Riverhurst to finish her education.  On July 10, 1945, Dorothy married the Love of Her Life, Melvin Pomeroy.  They had two surviving children, Carol and Gary.  Mel and Dorothy were a hard working unit that many looked up to.  They shared their farming and road construction ventures, with Mel’s Brother and wife, Arnold and Florance, where they shared the same yard.  Mel and Dorothy went to Carragana and Porcupine Plaine to break land in the 50’s.  They spent three summers there, living in a bunk house.  They both loved spending time and helping whatever way they could - with their son, Gary and Deb, and their daughter Carol and Neil.  The granddaughters, Leah, Lori, and Lana made their world.  Dorothy always loved to play softball, she loved watching the granddaughters play ball too. Then came along the great grandchildren – who made their world complete.  Dorothy was a devoted member of the community and was a Rebecca for more than 50 years, and was Treas. of the U.C.W.  Dorothy loved to bake for everyone.  The lucky recipients were the truckers and workers at the potato operation, many neighbours and friends and buns for everyone at the Fowl Suppers.  Dorothy had a heart of gold, a friend to many, and always wanted to Welcome and help people, wherever she could.  Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Mel, two children, Lois and Ross.  Dorothy is survived by her son Gary (Deb) Pomeroy, and daughter Carol (Neil) Thompson.  Three Granddaughters, Leah (Curtis Harding) Palmer, Lori (T.J.) Kube, and Lana (Justin) Osadczuk.  Great-Grandchildren – Hailey and Kassidy Palmer, Chloe and Kane Kube, and Elle and Ivy Osadczuk as well as step-great grandsons Dylan Gilmour, Kaiden & Kyan Harding.  Dorothy had a large step family in Ontario that she was very close with…and cherished them!!    A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date – when gatherings are allowed and it is safe to have them. We want to send a HUGE Thank You to the Regency Manor Staff for providing the EXCELLENT care for Dorothy… You are truly remarkable!!!!    Memorial donations may be made in Dorothy’s name to the Central Butte Regency Manor, Central Butte, SK S0H 0T0.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  James Murdock, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
