It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Pisio aged 89 years of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, on Sunday, December 10th, 2023. Pete was born on March 29th,1934, in Fosston, SK to Michael and Maria (née: Kudlacz) Pisio. On July 22nd, 1956, Peter married the love of his life, Stella Roll in Wadena, Saskatchewan. They moved to Moose Jaw in 1956 for work and there they raised two kids, a son Barry and a daughter Barb. Pete was the best father, doting on his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. Some of Pete’s fondest memories were with his family, camping, fishing, boating, gardening, fixing or building anything which he could accomplish without a manual – no task was too hard or too big, travelling, and spending time with his family.

Pete had an enormous, compassionate heart and wonderful sense of humour. He was kind, funny, humble, patient, loyal, loving, and a generous man. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all his life experiences. He had a smile that would light up the room and a laugh that would make you laugh right along with him. Pete was a proud season ticket holder, volunteer, and supporter of the Moose Jaw Warriors for over 40 years. He had recruited many family members over the years to become season ticket holders as well.

Pete started his employment at CPR in Moose Jaw in 1956 and then CGTX (now GATX) on November 12th, 1957. He retired from CGTX on November 30th, 1994, leaving a second generation, his son Barry, to continue with his legacy – his beliefs, values, mentorship, knowledge, and work ethic – at GATX.

He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Maria (née: Kudlacz) Pisio; brothers: John, Alex, and Paul; sisters, Christine (Pisio) Telka and Anne (Pisio) Kikcio; and in-laws, John and Anna (née: Wrona) Roll. Pete is survived by his wife of 67 years, Stella (née: Roll) Pisio; children, Barry Pisio and Barb (Richard) Kuntz; grandchildren: Ryan (Kelli) Ripley, Devin (Sarah) Ripley, Jinelle (Jesse) Chesney, Dylan Pisio (Samantha), Tyson Pisio, and Kylin Pisio (Jillian); great-grandchildren: Peyton and Brady Ripley, Greyson and Ryleigh Ripley, and Jaydon Chesney; his remaining brothers: Andy (Olga), Nick (Virgina), and Steve (Fern); sisters-in-law: Mary (Terry) McDonnell, Vicki (Garnet) Linton, Liz Seeling, and Dianne Pisio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital MCU (2nd floor) and the Geriatric Assessment Rehab Unit at Providence Place for their excellent care and attention. The family would also like to extend many thanks to family and friends for all their continued support through this difficult time.

A Celebration of Pete’s Life will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Pete’s name may be made to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 55 Diefenbaker Drive, Moose Jaw, SK S6J 0C2. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Andrew Pratt, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
