With loving memories, the family of Richard “Wayne” Phillips announce his peaceful passing on Sunday, January 21st, 2024, at the age of 79 years, at Pioneer Lodge in Moose Jaw, SK. He was predeceased by his brothers, Don and Dave. Wayne will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Janet; daughter, Lynn (Doug); and granddaughter, Kate. Wayne was born September 24th, 1944, in Indian Head, SK to Archie and Alice “Toots” Phillips. The family soon moved to Regina, SK where he went on to complete an Honours Degree in History from the University of Saskatchewan. Wayne and Janet married in 1972 and spent the next few years in several small towns in Saskatchewan, settling in Moose Jaw in 1984. Wayne had a long, rewarding career at Sask Water where he met many amazing lifelong friends. In retirement, he had the opportunity to work part-time at the Village of Caronport. For as long as he was able to, Wayne enjoyed attending Warrior games with Janet and their friends at the rink and visiting the Moose Jaw Library. They loved travelling to Las Vegas and San Diego to soak in the warm weather. He especially enjoyed trips to Calgary, AB to visit Lynn and Doug and any chance to spoil his granddaughter, Kate. He will be remembered as a kind, friendly, quiet person with a generous spirit who enjoyed a good joke. A Celebration of Wayne’s Life will be held by the family in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in Wayne’s name may be made to Parkinson Canada at Parkinson.ca. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.
