It is with heavy hearts and much sadness that the family of Lyle Allan Patterson, born April 4th, 1956, announce his passing after a short battle with cancer on Wednesday, January 24th, 2024. Lyle was born and raised in Moose Jaw, SK and grew up on the family farm down in the flats.

He was predeceased by his parents, Harold (Jack) and Rita Petterson; brothers, Goldie, Rodney, and Gary Patterson; and sisters, Joan Peachy and Linda Rivers. Lyle is survived by his daughter, Christine (Darren) MacLachlan; and his two grandchildren, Mickayla and Tyler. Lyle also leaves to mourn him, his sisters: Bernice (Alfred) Bassendowski, Wendy Richards, Evelyn Patterson, and Marie Patterson; as well as his two brothers, Murray (Margaret) Patterson and Brent Patterson, their families, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Lyle held a special place in his heart for his entire family and had close, special relationships with each of his siblings and their families. Over the years, Lyle made many memories that he cherished and fondly spoke of often. He could tell a story about each and every one.

Lyle will be fondly remembered by Murray and Margaret’s children, Michael and Darla Patterson; and Wendy Richard’s children: Joan (Joe) Kamer and Brian Richards, and her grandchildren. Lyle will also be remembered by Evelyn and family, and by Al Rivers and Linda’s children.

Lyle had a special bond and will be deeply mourned by Brent and Marie’s daughter, Areta Lowe, who was like a second daughter to him, and her family. Lyle spent numerous family holidays, vacations and times in general travelling Western Canada with Areta, Derek, Michael and Kaleb, making memories for a lifetime, and will be sadly missed. Lyle will also be greatly missed by their other children: Melissa, Aaron (Tessa), Jerry (Keli) and their families.

Lyle lived a simple life, working for many years as a roofer. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, strike a deal, or tell a tale; he must have hit the Lotto 6-49 at least 50 times in his life. He kept in close contact with his siblings, especially Brent and Murray, and could often be found spending time shooting the breeze, enjoying a sweet cup of coffee or a cold beer. Lyle will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by all those who knew him.

A Celebration of Lyle’s Life will be held in the near future and everyone who shared in his life is invited to attend. Please reach out to family members for details. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.
