Georgina Nelson
May 20, 1946 – March 4, 2023

The family of Georgina Nelson sadly announce her unexpected passing March 4, 2023 in the Regina General Hospital. She was born May 20, 1946 in Simpson, Saskatchewan, the daughter of Edith and Claire Bowlby.

Georgina married J Lyle Nelson April 17, 1965. They lived briefly in Regina, then in Nipawin, SK, before returning to Regina, SK. They had two children, Lori Graham and Shane Nelson. They began raising their family in Moose Jaw, SK and moved to Coronach in 1978. In Coronach, Georgina began a successful cake-decorating business out of her home, which she continued for many years. Along with decorating cakes, Georgina took barber training and cut hair. She was an avid gardener, and loved to read.

After her children were out on their own, she and Lyle retired to Crane Valley, SK in 1997. Georgina spent many summers gardening and enjoying the outdoors in Crane Valley. Georgina and Lyle also frequently travelled to California and later Nevada to visit her daughter, Lori (Gavin) and grandchildren Micaela and Brogan. After spending 25 years in Crane Valley, Georgina and Lyle moved to Indian Head, SK, to be closer to their son, Shane, his wife (Jolene) and her grandchildren, Tristan and Kyra. Sadly, Georgina passed away only five months after moving to Indian Head.

Georgina was predeceased by her parents, Claire and Edith Bowlby, as well as her younger brother, Ted (Edward) Bowlby.

She is survived by her husband, Lyle; children, Lori and Shane (Jolene) and grandchildren Brogan, Micaela, Kyra and Tristan. She is also survived by an older brother, Alvin (Marlene) Bowlby and younger sister Mary-Ellen (Murray) Schneikart as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

At Georgina’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choosing.
