John William Morrison “Scouter”, aged 87 years of Moose Jaw, SK passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 16th, 2020 in Extendicare, with Jan and Michael by his side.  John was born on October 13th, 1932 at Lashburn, SK, the first of six sons.  He moved to Moose Jaw in 1943, attended Central Collegiate from 1948-1951, then worked at the Post Office for a brief period.  John started his career with CP Rail later in 1951 and retired in 1989.  John married Jean Hudson in 1954 and had two sons, Jan in 1954 and Michael in 1956.  They divorced in 1958.  John then remarried Eileen Fryklund in 1959 and in 1960, John Scott was born.  John was very active in the community.  He was involved with the Scouts for over 60 years, and enjoyed his time with baseball, hockey, curling, and clubs.  He was predeceased by his wife, Eileen in 2019; father, William in 1998; mother, Elizabeth in 2002; brothers: Dennis in 2007, David in 2016, and Glen in 2019; daughter-in-law, Anita in 2016; and sister-in-law, Sharon in 1996.  John will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Jan and family, Mike (Charlene) and family, and John Scott and family; 9 grandchildren; and brothers, James and Robert.  Special thanks to all the staff at Extendicare for the loving care they provided for over 6 years, especially Cheryl in the Alzheimer’s Ward.  A Celebration of John’s Life will be held on Saturday, February 29th, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. in the Harvey Room at Moose Jaw Funeral Home.  Reverend Doug Shepherd will officiate and a private family interment will take place in Sunset Cemetery.  Flowers are gratefully declined.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in John’s name may be made to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 55 Diefenbaker Drive, Moose Jaw, SK S6J 0C2.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Todd Sjoberg, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
