Gerald Owen Mason
July 25 1937 - April 11 2020
We are heartbroken to announce the death of our Dad, Gerald Owen Mason. Known to his family & friends as Gerry, Owen by his Aunt Ruthie & the poor old minor by his cousin John. Dad was predeceased by his loving wife, Rose Mason; his parents, Wilfred & Vera Mason; his brothers, Joe Mason and Raymond Mason; and his sister, Sandra Mason. He was survived by his children, Jody (Billy) Ross, Janet Mason, Jeri (Steve) White, Jeffrey (Dana) Mason; his eleven Grandchildren; and his twelve Great Grandchildren. Gerry was born and raised in Moose Jaw, SK until he started his mining career, which took him to Yellowknife NWT, Echo Bay NWT, Hendrix Lake (Boss mountain) BC, Stewart BC, Cassiar BC, Revelstoke BC and finally Eskay Creek. We heard stories that he was a hard ass to work with, had a strong work ethic, gruff appearance and a soft heart. Dad returned to Moose Jaw to retire & spent his last years caring for mom without complaint. On Saturdays he could be found at the Legion meat draw enjoying the company of his extended family. “Thank you all for all your kind words, support and prayers.” Proud to be a Miner's daughter, Jeri White.
