Dorothy Marzolf aged 90 years of Central Butte, SK, passed away on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024 in Regency Manor. She was predeceased by her parents, Dorothy and Andrew Lasota; siblings: Alex, Andrew, and Helen; and son, James. Dorothy is survived by her children: Helen (Tim), Graham (Shelley), John (Kathleen), Vernon, Laurel (Doug), Donna, David (Geri-Lynn), and Mitchell (Niki); as well her grandchildren: Maya, Seth, Parker, Taylor, Calsy, Alexis, and Sophia.

Dorothy grew up on her parents’ farm near Jefferson School where she completed her Grade 10. She then attended Sion Academy for grades 11 and 12, followed by a year of Normal School, after which she taught grades 1 to 8 at Bishop’s Hill School.

Dorothy married Ed Marzolf in 1952, and they raised 9 children and built a mixed farming operation. She managed an active household - bookkeeping, gardening, raising chickens, and yard work. Dorothy was active in the community, volunteering with the CWL, Pine Lake Community Club, and at the rink in Central Butte. She drove kids to hockey, fast ball, basketball, curling, and volleyball. Dorothy was a farmer, teacher, great cook, scrabble demon, and confidante, but her main occupation was as “Mom” for over 70 years!

Thank you to the doctors and nursing staff at the Dr. F. H. Wigmore Regional Hospital for their superb care, and to the staff at the Regency Manor in Central Butte. As well, special thanks to honorary family member Fred Shopa.
