JEANNIE LONGWORTH

June 14th, 1959 - September 5th, 2023

Our family is very sad to announce the passing of Jeannie Marie Longworth, a beloved mother, sister, aunt, and grauntie, at the young age of 64 years, on Tuesday, September 5th, 2023. Jeannie suffered a stroke on August 19th and spent her remaining weeks fighting hard with all of her family and friends by her side, giving all those who loved her the opportunity to exchange their final “I love you”. She was an amazing mother to her only daughter, Casey, though many others looked up to her as their second mom, too.

Jeannie was born in Lafleche, Saskatchewan on June 14th, 1959 to Clarice and Ron. Jeannie, her brother Bill, and her three sisters, Lorie, Judy and Debbie, later moved to Moose Jaw, SK where they began their lives together in the family home on Oxford Street W. Jeannie was also fortunate enough to have two amazing stepparents, Jim and Nadia. Jeannie was known for her incredible commitment to her family and friends as well as her infectious, outgoing personality. Her family could always rely on her to be a quick call away when someone needed a helping hand. She had a heart full of kindness and had a special way of making those around her feel valued and appreciated. Jeannie’s compassion touched the lives of countless people, leaving an impact that will be remembered for years to come.

The greatest gift of all was when Jeannie became a mom to Casey Jaymes. She was an amazing mother and best friend who you could count on for anything from a dozen baked buns, devilled eggs, or a good house cleaning.

Jeannie found so much joy in being outdoors. Whether that meant planting flowers in the garden, soaking up the sun next to the lake or the pool, camping, or spending time in the backyard with what she would call her ‘grandkids’, who are Casey and Bevin’s two dogs, Walter and Zoey.

Although Jeannie’s life ended much too soon, her family is forever grateful to have spent many years filled with laughter, love, games, endless Christmas gifts, and of course a few pilsners. Family gatherings will never be the same without you Weenus!

She was predeceased by her parents, Clarice (née: Oxley) and Ron Anderson; and sisters, Judy Lynn and Debbie. Jeannie will be deeply missed by her daughter, Casey (Bevin); sister, Lorie (Danny); brother, Bill (Angie); stepfather, Jim; stepmother, Nadia; nieces and nephews: Jenn (Jay), Jasmine (Steve), Stacie (Matt), Brittanie (Ty), Austin (Maddy), and Calvin; and her little, biggest fans, great-nephews and nieces: Krosby, Maguire, Cash, Frankie, Taylor and Lily, will also miss their Grauntie.

Everyone who remembers Jeannie is asked to celebrate her life in their own way. Raise a Pilsner in her honour, while you smile and reminisce about the memories you’ve made. She was one of a kind and the mark she has left on all of our hearts will never fade. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jeannie’s name can be made to The Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Station Main, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Michelle Ellis, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
