William Brian Little
March 2, 1937 - March 10, 2022,

Brian came into this world at Kincaid SK, the youngest of six children born to Matthew Henry (Harry) and Elizabeth Little. He grew up on the homestead North of Meyronne, SK. As a child, Brian is remembered as quiet and reserved and of being very fond of animals. He attended Glenarchy School (just north of the family farm), Meyronne Public School and Caronport High School. Brian would be a jack of all trades. After finishing school, he took a course in Moose Jaw and became a lineman for North Rural Telephone at Meyronne. Later after various jobs in Moose Jaw and Calgary, he returned home to farm with his dad, and drive the north school bus route. Brian took over the family farm in 1990. Brian married Marlene Chase on November 1, 1979. With his days of bachelorhood at an end, Brian became not only a husband but a stepfather to four children: Randy, Cindy, Russell, and Percy. He took a great personal interest in each one and was always ready to help them in any way he could. Brian and Marlene resided in Meyronne. It is here that Brian showed how community minded he was. He served as the Meyronne Fire Chief, and also was president of the Meyronne Lion’s Club (1976-2006) and was a town councillor for three years (1980 – 1983), before serving as the mayor from 1983-2006. He also spent time helping at the Meyronne Recreation Centre and had stints on the boards of the Meyronne Coop and Rural Municipality Loans. SUMA, the Saskatchewan Urban Municipality Association, presented Brian with a lifetime award in 2007. Brian was a great carpenter, holding Journeyman status with the Province of Saskatchewan. He put that to good use by adding a new garage and an addition to their Meyronne home. Brian liked to tinker and could do his own fixes and repairs on the farm. Brian enjoyed bowling, dancing, socializing, Oh Henry chocolate bars, and emptying his pocket of change so the grandchildren could divvy it up! Brian was generous with his time, he was kind, patient, and generally slow to speak. He often quoted his dad’s saying: “Little said is easily mended.” Brian is predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Alvin, Bob and David; a brother-in-law Gil Reimer; a niece, Colleen Lumb; a sister-in-law, Ella Little; and a chosen “sister” at birth, Margaret Ellis. He is loved by his wife of 42 years, Marlene of Regina, SK; sisters, Jean (Alton) Barsness of Saskatoon, SK, and Joan (Reine) Diener of Penticton, BC; stepchildren, Randy (Myrna) Chase of Regina; Cindy (Dean) Watson of Saskatoon; Russell (Laura) Chase of Hay River, NWT; and Percy (Carmen) Chase of Beaumont, AB. He is also loved by six grandchildren and eight great-grandsons: Ryan Chase of Alix, AB, and his sons, Mason, Jaxon, and Cohen; Jesse (Shawna) Dauphinais of Saskatoon, and their sons, Blake and Brock; Renee (Daryl) Moriyama (Abram) of Beaumont, and their sons, Chase and Grady; Tyler Chase of Calgary, AB; Stephanie (Austin) Christianson of Saskatoon, and their son Theo; and Christopher (Emily) Chase of Regina. Finally, he is loved by many nieces and nephews. Brian spent the last years of his life (2018 - 2022) at Extendicare Moose Jaw and passed away after a short bout with COVID. The family would like to extend our appreciation to the staff at Moose Jaw Extendicare for their care and support of Brian. A small gathering of the immediate Chase family took place on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at the W.J. Jones and Son Funeral Home in Moose Jaw, followed by burial at Sunset Cemetery. Donations in Brian’s memory can be made at your local Humane Society. In living memory of Brian, a memorial planting will be made by W.J. Jones & Son Ltd.
