LaRocque, Daniel

Daniel G. LaRocque

We are sorry to have to inform Dan's friends in Regina & Moose Jaw that he passed away in hospital on Saturday, November 16, 2019 after having suffered a stroke several weeks ago. Dan was the father of two daughters, Kathleen LaRocque Cameron and Jeanne LaRocque Walsh, and a son, Dan LaRocque. He was grandfather to Ian, Erin, Megan, Jacob and Isaac and great-grandfather to Audrey and Abigail. (One of his greatest pleasures was to follow his family via Facebook, and he was extremely proud of every one of them). Dan is also survived by a sister, Diane Larocque Noonan, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Daniel E. LaRocque and mother Jean LaRocque Granich, as well as his older brother Clarke LaRocque. Danny grew up in the Ottawa Valley, but spent most of his later years in the West, which he came to love. He was a gifted writer, and his talent led him to work in a variety of positions and cities, Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, and Calgary, but circumstances saw him settling ultimately in the Regina/Moose Jaw area.  He made many good friends through his travels, and his family is grateful to all those who extended their kindnesses to him, particularly in those later years – our thanks are due to so many people – Jim and Lyn Wagman, Lydia Bruse, Rob Kerr, Steve and the gang at the Library, and those at the Casino with whom he watched his beloved baseball and delighted in arguing any facet of the game – and other things! Bottom line, though - the Blue Jays have surely lost one of their biggest fans. As Dan would have wished, there will be no formal funeral service, and his ashes will be returned to Ottawa. In living memory of Dan, a memorial tree planting will be made by Jones-Parkview Funeral Services. Please see our online book of condolences at www.parkviewfuneralchapel.ca and www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries). Blair Scott, Funeral Director.
