KNIPFEL, Judy

Judith Marilyn Knipfel (nee Waldner) passed away peacefully on August 9, 2021 surrounded by love and her sons. Judy was born December 6, 1940 at the pool hall in Langham, SK to George & Dorothy Waldner. Judy married Roy Knipfel in 1960 and they enjoyed 53 years together playing cards with friends, travelling and being involved in their kids’ activities through the years. Judy was predeceased by Roy in 2013. Judy spent her life caring for others, spreading joy, and making great friends wherever she went. She was a progressive firecracker with a heart of gold who was always well ahead of her time. During her years spent in Shell Lake, she was President of Minor Sports and was elected to the Parkland School Board. After moving the family to Saskatoon, she spent the next 25 years of her career working at CIBC where she made lifelong friends with her colleagues and clients. Many will remember Judy for her charismatic ability to light up any room, her quick wit, and also as a mother-figure in her communities. Judy had a special knack for making everyone feel loved and welcomed, and her door was always open to friends of her kids. She always made enough sandwiches and lemonade to feed the whole ball team between games and was the best pancake cooker and shortbread baker in town. Judy will be loved and missed by her kids Brock (Sue), Todd (Linda), Earl (Dixie) and Vonda (Jason), her sister Arlene (Ed) and brother Brian (Bea), her 20 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews and other special family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, father-in-law Edler, mother-in-law Grace, with whom she had a very special bond, husband Roy, and son Danny (Carrie). The family will be having a private service to remember Judy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lighthouse Supported Living in Saskatoon on her behalf.
