Gerald Stanley Knelsen passed away suddenly on January 31, 2022, doing what he loved most, taking care of his horses on the place he loved most, the farm.
He was born on June 17, 1939, the first born to Jacob and Violet Knelsen in Kelstern, SK. They moved to the family farm when he was 7 years old and that is where he resided for the rest of his life.
Jerry was a quiet, gentle, private man who loved his family, the farm, and his animals more than anything. He enjoyed going for horseback rides and spending that time with his riding buddy Dalhas Carpentier and his forever faithful “yeller dog” Libby. He loved the simple things in life and material possessions weren’t important to him.
Jerry is predeceased by his parents Jake and Violet Knelsen; in-laws Lloyd and Ruth Cornish; Dave and Bev Wolfe; Gary; Bob; and Darla Cornish.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife Cindy (nee Cornish); his daughter Alissa Bullock; son-in-law Trevor Bullock; grandsons Michael and Joshua Bullock; great grandchildren Tytus and Khaliah and his companion Libby. Also left to mourn is his brother and best friend, Raymond (Leslie) Knelsen; sister Elaine (Gerry) Manchuk, Cindy’s family Barb, David (Barb), Dan, Heather, Edna, Bryan (Marnell), Bill (Carolyn) Cornish, Kathy (Jim) Kautz and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbours.
A celebration tea to honour Jerry and support the family will be held in the Fellowship Hall at the First Free Methodist Church, 375 Hochelaga St W, Moose Jaw at 2pm on Saturday February 5, 2022.
The Fellowship Hall is wheelchair accessible, and we ask that unless you’re eating or drinking to please wear a mask and respect the mandates.
