 KINNEE

On April 16, 2020, BRIAN KINNEE passed away at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Unit in Lethbridge, AB after a long-fought battle with cancer.

He is predeceased by his parents, Mildred & Raymond Kinnee and brother, Randy, along with his parents-in-law William and Anne Brown.

He will be missed by his wife, Fiona Brown (married May 25, 1991) and his two daughters, Katrina and Stephanie (Wynn Oler). Brian will also be missed by his brothers and their families: Keven (Wendy), sister-in-law Sheila (Randy), Ray, Dave (Mel), and Rob. He will also be remembered by Fiona’s siblings: William (Hui) Brown and Elisabeth (David) Mayne, along with various aunts, uncles, cousins, and all the nieces and nephews.

Brian was quick to laugh and tried to enjoy life despite a long struggle with his medical conditions. His passion for farming and livestock came from spending summers in his youth working on a family farm in eastern Saskatchewan. He carried this love throughout his life by riding horses, doing rodeo, and eventually farming in the Lethbridge County. His ability to build and fix just about anything came in handy when farming—from welding a better system on the bale picker, to rebuilding an engine, or even building a cabinet to fit a specific spot in the house.

He had a love of the outdoors be it fishing, camping, or just going for jaunts around the countryside. This could be anything from a picnic and stroll around Henderson, to a trip to Waterton just to wander around for the day. His family moved around the western provinces a lot while he and his brothers grew up and he was eager to share these spots with his wife and children when he could. Brian’s wandering continued when he worked for the Department of Highways (SK) and served in the military before he settled as a welder in Lethbridge where he met his wife.

His courage, strength of spirit, creativity and sense of humour will be carried forward by all those who knew him. He was a beloved husband, father, and friend who will be missed dearly by all of us.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Donations in Brian’s name can be made to either the Heart & Stroke Foundation (www.heartandstroke.ca/donate) or the Canadian Cancer Society (www.cancer.ca/donate).
