On Tuesday, December 26th, 2023, our dear mom, Joan Marie Kennerley stepped into eternity to be with her Heavenly Father. She would have been met with celebration and joy as she reconnected with those that went before her.

She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Kennerley; parents, Clifford and Alice Campbell; son, Terry; and grandson, Jeff. Joan will be lovingly remembered by her son, Doug Kennerley; daughter, Kathy (Marty) Knudson; brother, Clive (Ann); sister, Gail (George); grandchildren: Amy (Mitch), (Vanessa), Dan, Dave, James, Julie (Cody), Dustin, and Shaelyn (Wyatt); as well as her 11 great–grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Joan was born in Moose Jaw, SK on May 26th, 1938. She grew up on the family farm north of Parkbeg, SK surrounded by adventure, family and friends. She attended Parkbeg Elementary School, Kelly School, Parkbeg High School, Central Collegiate and Peacock Collegiate. Joan met her life partner while attending school in Parkbeg. She and Al married on July 20th, 1957, and spent the next 63 years building a life of love together.

Joan worked as a bookkeeper at Security Lumber, then on to a real estate and insurance agency in Courtney, BC. She also worked as an assistant postmaster in Cold Lake, AB and then later owned and operated the insurance agency in Mortlach, SK for 10 years. She enjoyed many years of retired life after that.

Joan had a strong faith, was an avid reader, gifted gardener and had a love for nature, including her beautiful flowers and the many birds that frequented their yard. She loved to host family meals and made everyone who entered her home feel welcome and part of the family. She and Al spent 31 years at their home in Mortlach where they built their “gazebo” and spent countless hours enjoying one another’s company, feeding and watching all the birds and tracking when they would come each year. They entertained many friends and family from near and far, leaving us with so many fond memories.

If you knew our mom, you would know she was the most kind, tender hearted, patient, understanding and loving person. She saw the good in everyone she met.  We will deeply miss her and cherish all the treasures she left in our hearts forever.

A casual come and go gathering to honour Joan’s memory will be held on Saturday, December 30th, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Prairie Oasis Event Space (also known as the fireplace room), 955 Thatcher Dr East, Moose Jaw SK.

Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Andrew Pratt, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
