It is with heavy hearts that the family of Lyle Adrian Joel aged 79 years of Central Butte, SK, announces his passing on Saturday, March 23rd, 2024, at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital in Moose Jaw, SK. Lyle was born on March 9th, 1945, in Calgary, AB to John and Mildred Joel and he grew up at the family farm just East of Loreburn, SK. After taking machinist training in Moose Jaw, Lyle moved to Edmonton, AB and worked as a machinist. He came back to run the family farm for a few years but then returned to the machinist trade. Lyle decided to retire closer to family in Central Butte with Lana O'Hern, whom he officially married in 2003 and together they built a beautiful life filled with singing, dancing, fishing, camping and playing cards with friends and family. Lyle lived to sing and loved his time with the Chimo Chordsmen, local singing groups, as well as a good campfire sing along or karaoke. He was also a regular at the library with his love of a good western, helping local farmers, or working on small engines to stay busy. Lyle was a proud husband, father, brother, grandfather and even great-grandfather.
He was predeceased by his wife, Lana O’Hern Joel; father, John Joel; brother, Darol Joel; and granddaughter, Breanna Bowers. Left to love Lyle from afar are his mother, Mildred Joel; brother, Jerry Joel; sisters, Linda Joel (Kirk Baird) and Jane (Gordon) Borycki; children: Doug (Cheryl) Joel and their children Jonathan Joel (Taylor) and their son Myles, Danielle Joel, Jessica Joel (Keegan), and Corleen (Blake) Bannerman and their children Brett, Josh and Cole Bannerman; stepdaughters, Brandi (Daryl) Bowers and their son Brendan Bowers, and Becki (Aron) Pawliw their children Mara, Ruby and Linley Pawliw.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to honour Lyle. For those wishing, donations in Lyle’s name may be made to the Central Butte Library, 281 Butte St, Central Butte, SK S0H 0T0.
