MARIE JEAN HENDER
(February 27, 1955-March 19,2021)
Marie lost her fight with a brief but aggressive cancer on March 19, 2021. She died peacefully with family by her side. Left to honour her in memories are the love of her life and best friend, Gary Hender; son, Dorian Wright; daughter, Damara Damico and 3 grandchildren, Jayda, Devyn, and Wyatt; sister, Bonnie (Scott); mother, Vivian; stepsons, Davin Hender and granddaughter Jaycee, Justin Hender and grandson Curtis; many cousins and a huge support of close friends. Marie is predeceased by her father, Theodore and infant sister, Carrie. Marie will be remembered for her quick wit, her outrageous laughter, her crazy sense of humour, her stubbornness, and her love of family and friends. She was an amazing cook and hosted, with her husband Gary, many family and friend gatherings and feasts. Her love of flowers and the outdoors, showed in her beautiful yard; full of colour, objects of art, dragons and vintage relics, and many items she painted. She was a talented painter who used rocks, vintage jugs, containers, and handsaws as her canvas. Marie loved to read, enjoyed all genres of music, watching the birds nesting in many birdhouses in her yard, and especially had a passion for hummingbirds. Marie loved to entertain and filled a room with her presence. She and Gary opened their home to family and friends whether it was to enjoy a fire, beverages, and music in the “down deck,” or a BBQ feast on the upper deck. In the past year of COVID restrictions, she missed her “people”, so she immersed herself in painting and working as a recreational assistant at Extendicare where she was able to share her energy and humour with her senior “people.” She will be honoured in memories and missed greatly by her family, her friends and many whose lives she touched with her humour, her energy, and outgoing personality…R-B-DAR.
