Hannah “Anne” Josephine Hann sadly passed away at the age of 88 years on Monday, January 15th, 2024 at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, with her family at her side. Anne was surrounded by the love of family and friends near and far.

She was predeceased by her parents, brothers, and dear friend Mary. Anne is the dearly loved mother to sons, David (Louise), Curtis (Rhonda), and Jeff (Laura). She leaves behind her much-loved grandchildren: Emily (Shane), Joshua, Tyler (Shawn), and Jason (Marissa); and was a step-grandmother to Dennis.  She was a great-grandmother of two beautiful children, Weston and Taryn. Anne is also survived by her sister, Jean Chovancek.

Anne was born and raised on a farm in Petrolia, Ontario. At a young age, she joined the Air Force where she was trained as a teletype operator. She subsequently was stationed overseas and was able to travel throughout Europe.

After leaving the Air Force, Anne married and raised 3 sons while her husband was sent on many tours overseas. She was proud to say that she had moved 42 times. She had an uncanny ability to easily make friends in each new city.

Anne was extremely supportive of her family and was always available to provide words of wisdom. She greatly enjoyed a lively card game. She was a talented crafter in needlepoint, stained glass, sewing and quilting, to name a few. Her family will treasure the Christmas decorations and artwork that grace their homes.  She was an avid reader of all types of books, especially mysteries. Anne owned a vast collection of cookbooks and enjoyed trying new recipes.

Anne had a fondness for dogs, in particular miniature dachshunds, and hoped to be reunited with her sweet little Toby. She possessed a fabulous sense of humour, even joking with the nurses a few days before she passed. Nothing made Anne happier than having her 3 boys together with her. She was so proud of them.

In keeping with Anne’s wishes, a private family memorial will be held at a later date. Anne’s family is grateful to all the staff of the Dr. F. H. Wigmore Regional Hospital for the wonderful care that she received and would be appreciative of donations made to the hospital in her memory: Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 55 Diefenbaker Drive, Moose Jaw, SK S6J 0C2.

Our hearts are broken.

Mom was so loved and will be missed forever.

She Is Not Dead

I cannot say, and I will not say that she is dead. She is just away. With a cheery smile, and a wave of the hand, she has wandered into an unknown land and left us dreaming how very fair it needs must be, since she lingers there.

And you-oh you, who the wildest yearn for an old-time step, and the glad return. Think of her faring on, as dear in the love of there as the love of here.

Think of her still as the same.

I say, she is not dead. She is just away.
