Harold was born September 22, 1939, and passed away March 30, 2022, at the age of 82 years young. He was the fourth blessing of Elisabeth Wirges Hall and Edward Hall. He weighed in at over 10 lbs. at birth, their heaviest bundle, something Elisa never let him forget! He was a healthy, inquisitive, busy, and curious child. As with all their children, he was well-loved and a source of pride to his whole family.

As Harold grew, he became eager to earn, and eager to see the world. As a young teen he delivered groceries on his bike while on lunch at Moose Jaw Technical High School (Peacock). Until retirement, he had not one day where he wasn’t working, and spent much of his time helping people.

After high school, in 1956, he joined the navy where his dream of travel was fulfilled, East Coast Canada, West Coast Canada, Hawaii, Bermuda. Harold lived his best bad-boy life; was frequently in trouble. Stories of ‘hats off to the captain’ were many, and often hilarious.

In 1966, he walked into the Moose Jaw Fire Department, and never looked back until he retired in 1999. It was the perfect element for Harold; laughing, joking, bonding with men who shared his passion for excitement, and just as eager as he was, to make a difference. In his job, he was often haunted by the cruelness of death; often elated by the strength of the human spirit. The need to help make that difference drove him to work, every day, for 33 years.

Harold married in 1968 (divorced 1997), and had two children; Cindy and Trevor, who brought him a much-loved son-in-law, Dan, four grandchildren: Meagan (Dale); Kyle; Logan; Courtney; and one great grandchild Owen.

During his time, he curled locally. As a consummate team player, he skipped his team to many provincial bonspiels. Harold was athletically gifted, rowing team in the Navy, darts, pool, swimming, and bowling. He also opened a painting business with a partner, which lasted for a number of years, until he discovered a true passion, Golf. Part of his success in golf was the need to always be a better Harold. He had high standards for himself, and golf gave him an outlet to pursue that goal.

Harold was a proud Moose Javian all his life; local hero; interacting with much of the community on a daily basis, leaving lasting, fun memories of a cheery say-it-like-it-is character. An independent spirit; strong storyteller; life of the party; and bona fide sh*t disturber. Thank you for keeping us all in line, and in stitches. You’ll be missed more than you could ever know.

He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Donald and Arnold; brother-in-law Roy Blenkinsop; Niece Glenda Hall; nephew Lanny Hall; daughter-in-law Amanda Hall, and many, many good friends along the way, who left him a lifetime of memories

Harold leaves behind, his children; son-in-law; grandchildren; great-grandchild; brother Glen (Linda) Hall (son Jayme); sister Doris Blenkinsop (son Keith; daughters Rhonda and Denise); nephew Jason; special friends Jean and Wally Marvin.
